Nicolae Dănilă is a Romanian economist and one of the prominent figures of the banking system in Romania. He was executive chairman of BCR from 1999-2007, and from October 2009 he is a member of the Board of Directors of the NBR. He graduated in 1974 from the Faculty of Finance-Banks within the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. In 1983, he obtained the scientific title of doctor in economics at ASE Bucharest in the specialization of international financial-banking relations.
Nicolae Dănilă is part of several professional associations such as: Romanian Association of Banks – vice president; National Association of Romanian Exporters and Importers – Center for the Promotion of Foreign Trade – vice-president; The Romanian Banking Institute – member of the Board of Directors. He has also been a member of the Boards of Directors and other subsidiary banks of BCR: Anglo-Romanian Bank Limited – vice president; Frankfurt-Bucharest Bank – President; Banca Italo-Romena – member.
Currently, Mr. Dănilă is the Chairman of the Board of Directors, First Bank Bucharest.
