Marcel Ciolacu is deputy prime minister of Romania. As a member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) he was elected in 2016 in the Romanian Parliament and is the leader of the social democrats’ group in the Deputies Chamber. Ciolacu is a member in the Commission for European Affairs (Deputies Chamber), member in the Validation Commission (Deputies Chamber), member in the Romanian Parliament’s Delegation of the Council of Europe and member in the parliamentary groups for friendship with Germany, Zambia, United Kingdom, and Israel. Between 2012 and 2016 Ciolacu was MP, secretary of the Deputies Chamber, member in the Permanent Office (2015-2016) and member in the Commission for Public Administration and Improvement of the Territory from the Deputies Chamber (2014-2016). In 2014 he was also a member in the Commission for Information Technology and Communication from the Deputies Chamber, substitute in the delegation of the Romanian Parliament to OSCE and member in the friendship groups with Israel and Belgium. He was also vice-mayor of Buzau, executive director of Urbis Serv S.R.L., judicial adviser at S.C. Alcom S.R.L. and ad interim prefect of Buzau.
