Maia Sandu is a Moldovan economist, politician and the initiator and the President of Action and Solidarity Party (PAS). Maia Sandu started her professional career at the Ministry of Economy, and then she activated as adviser for the Executive Director of the World Bank and as economist at the office from Moldova of the same institution. Between 2012 and 2015 she held the office of Minister of Education and in 2016 was designated by PAS as its presidential candidate, reaching the run-off of the elections. Maia Sandu holds a B.A. in management at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova and a M.A. in International Relations at the Academy of Public Administration in Chișinău. In 2010, she graduated from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
