George Ciamba is a career diplomat and in present holds the position of Secretary of State for Bilateral and Strategic Affairs within the Euro-Atlantic Area, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to that, George Ciamba was Ambassador of Romania in Greece and between 2003 and 2005 worked as Secretary of State for Multilateral Affairs, afterwards Global, within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 1999 and 2003, George Ciamba worked as Ambassador of Romania in Turkey, as well as Permanent Representative of Romania to the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation between 2001 and 2003. Between 1996 and 1997 he held the position of deputy director of the North America Direction, subsequently becoming director of the same direction between 1997 and 1999. In 1999 he was awarded as the “Ambassador of the Year” by the ordinary “Nine O’clock”, then in 2000 was decorated with the “Order of National Merit in Grade of Commander”. He has graduated the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and holds a diploma in International Relations advanced studies, from the University of Bucharest and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He took the courses on Economics and International Relations at Hoover Institution from Stanford University and took part in the “International Visitor” Program of the Intelligence Agency of the USA.
