Florin Georgescu serves as First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Romania since 2004. Having a wide expertise in the fields of finances and economy, Mr Georgescu held important positions both in national and international institutions. Beginning with 2011, Mr. Georgescu serves also as one of the members of the European Systemic Risk Board. Between 2004 and 2010, Mr. Georgescu was member of the Banking Supervision Committee of the European Central Bank. In the past, he served also as Minister of Economy and Finance. Besides his professional activity, Mr. Georgescu works also in the academic environment, being Professor at the Academy of Economics in Bucharest and doctoral supervisor in the field of “Money and Credit”. Having graduated a Bachelor in Finance and Accounting at the Academy of Economics in Bucharest, Mr. Georgescu holds a Ph.D. Degree in Finance, Money Circulation and Credit. Mr. Georgescu also graduated the International Institute for Management Development in Laussaune, Switzerland.
